If you charge a promotional balance and then use the card for regular purchases, watch out! You payments go to the regular purchase first and when you deferred interest hits the card, you will wish you had used another CC...
I purchased a computer from Best Buy and was offered the 10% discount which could be used for my next purchase at Best Buy. I went ahead with the application process and was asked to talk to a bank representative. Since I don't use regular credit cards I don't have much of a credit history. However I do have a good credit score because I am a home owner and have no debts.I believe that I was refused the card because the bank knew that I was getting it only for the discount. So I was mislead by the offer. Something didn't seem right to me because I have had this kind of card elsewhere with no problem.The bank representative offered the Visa card option which would cost $60 for a year. I didn't accept.
The card itself has decent rewards. That is where the good ends. Annual fees and very poor customer service. If you ever want a credit line increase, itll hit as a hard inquiry on your credit and they said they never increase automatically. Calls to customer care never give any kind of real answer. I was told to call other agencies to tell me what Best Buy credit will do. Made no sense and was no help on any call.
Do not go near this awful company. They will not take your proper payment and will make it impossible to straighten out any issue, no matter how miniscule. You cannot reach a PERSON on the phone. You cannot access your account online, no matter how many times you mess with the site... you will end up yelling at your family members out of frustration. When you finally reach a "customer service agent", they will act like you are making shit up for fun. Ass holes. I just paid my balance and cut up my card. F**k Best Buy and F**k their credit card.
I discovered a fraudulent transaction on my account for almost $1000 on 8/15/2016 and reported it right away (within 1/2 hour of the initial order). The item was ordered via Best Buy.com and shipped to an address in OH. I live in CA, never been to OH in my life. I reported it to Best Buy.com, told them to cancel the order, which had not yet shipped. I also went to a local Best Buy store, and informed them of this and had them cancel the transaction. I reported it to the Best Buy Credit Card fraud department. Basically did everything right. Yet that afternoon, Best Buy.com shipped the item, even though they had assured me that the transaction would be cancelled. The next day, I got the charge through on my credit card anyway. Based on the tracking information provided, it looks like Best Buy was able to get the item returned to the shipper, so they have the item back on 8/16. Yet today, on 8/19, the charge is still on my credit card account, even though Best Buy has its item and no liability to themselves. I called the credit card again today and they told me they had not even tagged the transaction as fraudulent, even though I had reported it to them 4 days ago. As of now, the charge still sits on my account as my responsibility. Best Buy has its product and I'm being asked to pay $1000 for an item that I didn't order in the first place, that I reported as fraudulent activity, and they didn't even deliver in the first place. TOTAL SCAM!
